Sliced Paper On Sewn Walls

In 2006 I moved to Beijing where I lived until 2013. During this period I made paper cutout installation for small exhibition venues. With limited resources I chose to focus on local materials and site production. Rice paper and vinyl paper were readily available, but my practice was limited by production time and small budget. Between 2006 and 2009 I created a series of temporary paper cutout installations, and inspired by this method of working, I later created Chasing Site, using ink on paper, to capture the emotional and social engagement that unravelled during each installation experience.
